As the lockdown has hit our country for a period of 21 days starting from today, here’s a wonderful list of 21 things which you can do in these 21 days (other than binge-watching)! 🙂
Whether to pick up one activity for a day or go ahead with a combination of a few of them is totally your choice. Feel free to juggle and enjoy your own company.
Here it goes!
With a busy schedule where we hardly get time to look after our own health, we miss out on thanking the people around us. Take this time to sit with that person who lives with you and thank them for the minutest things that they have done for you till date. Carry out this with each and every member of your family & see the atmosphere blossom.
When we are living a normal life, we are running here and there without any awareness. In this phenomenon, we miss out on a lot of things that are going on around us. Start observing, how the things around you are placed. Start with your room, go to your kitchen, then go to the window & look at the trees outside, the animals roaming around, the birds chirping. When you start observing like this, suddenly you will realize that you got hooked on a tiny ant in that corner of your room and it’s been half an hour since you have been watching it walk. Give it a try, it might seem silly in the beginning, but it’s fun. And anyway, you don’t have much to do! 😀
Open your phone list and find one contact every day with whom you haven’t talked since years. Give a call and cherish the memories.
When you have done Activity#2, a perfect picture will be created in your mind of the house. Figure out the areas where there are tons and tons of unnecessary things and start cleaning.
Please don’t say you are not a good dancer. All you need to do is move your body on the beats. Nobody is telling you to go to an audition for Dance India Dance! 🙂 Dancing like this can help in reducing the panic and fear that you might have unconsciously absorbed from the atmosphere.
Eating food is nothing more than a procedure when it comes to our daily lives. Take this time out to see which food affects your body in what manner. Observe the times when you feel hungry, observe when you eat just for taste and observe how your body is feeling after you eat. This will give you an idea about what is good for your body and what is not.
It can be making something out of the waste you got out in Activity#4 while decluttering or creating something totally different. Just create something. What? Well, that depends on what you want to create! 🙂
Find a peaceful corner in your house, close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Continue in this position for as long as you can, minimum for 10 minutes and see the buddha within you grow.
Has it not been an all life fantasy to get unlimited sleep? Well then, here’s the time to fulfill that fantasy. Decide a day when you will just sleep and do nothing else.
So after you are done sleeping, it’s time for a little reflection. It is all about having a look at where you are in your life right now professionally & personally. Is your life based on the values that define you or is it just running on an automatic mode? Reflection is all about questioning yourself and the path that you are on so as to connect back to your core.
We get angry, irritated, frustrated, jealous & greedy often. We never get time to pause and think about why such feelings originate or emerge within me? This is the perfect time to sit and have a look at those unattended guests who have occupied space in your mind.
If you are lucky enough to have a space or a garden at your house, spend some time educating yourself about growing flowers, fruits & vegetables. If you are not fortunate enough to have a space like that, plan on how you can bring nature inside your house by means of indoor plants and make it happen after the lockdown is over.
The ultimate weapon of killing time is reading. A book or a magazine which suits your taste is the best way to enhance your level of perception and make the best out of your time. Avoid reading excessive Whatsapp messages and newspapers.
For some of you, cooking might already be a regular activity, so try cooking something new and different. Cook something that you have never done before.
So what if you can’t hang out together, make a group video call and sing songs together. You can have fun just like you did when you used to meet before lockdown. Stay in touch with people and stay connected to make sure nobody is carried away by excessive stress, panic or fear.
When was the last time you wrote a hand-written letter to somebody? Write a letter to a few of your friends, cousins or colleagues and give it to them whenever you meet.
We all have certain aspirations and dreams in our lives. This is the time to give them the space to manifest. Paint them or write about them so that the universe can get a clear message about what you want.
After you wake up, make sure your bed is clean and tidy. Eliminate any unnecessary items or gadgets that are kept there. Cleanliness in the physical aspect will bring peace on a mental level.
Most of the time we stuff our houses and rooms with many things, never questioning whether we relate to those things or not. This is the time to have a look at each object and think whether this object defines me or my family? Then and then it deserves to be there.
Mindfulness is all about doing things slowly and consciously. So if you are brushing, do it very slowly with all your attention there. Similarly, carry all the activities like that, from eating to walking to breathing to using your phone to jumping to anything else that you do.
Last & most important, DO NOTHING! It’s not necessary to keep on doing something at each and every moment. Just sit and breathe. It’s enough!

PLEASE, PLEASE STAY AT HOME AND AVOID PANIC! IF WE MAINTAIN THIS DISCIPLINE FOR 21 DAYS, WE CAN SAVE A LOT OF LIVES INCLUDING OUR OWN!
SENDING LOTS OF LOVE & PATIENCE!
MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!
